The Australian Association of Social Workers, AASW, describes Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) as “highly trained and educated mental health professionals, meeting some of the highest standards of professional regulation in Australia. AMHSWs are one of the few designated Allied Health professional groups eligible to provide private mental health services to people with diagnosable mental health conditions or people ‘at risk’ of developing mental health conditions under the Commonwealth Medicare initiative.

AMHSWs work from a Biopsychosocial and cultural, whole-of-person perspective and their training provides an appreciation of the impact that social, environmental and cultural factors have on total health and wellbeing. Their person-in-environment approach (that is the bedrock of all Social Work education) makes AMHSWs experts in dealing with complexity.”

Like Psychologists, AMHSW’s can’t prescribe medication.

Currently we offer therapy sessions every Tuesday 9am-5pm. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.

Attuned Mind therapy takes confidentiality seriously. Amy holds this as imperative in her practice. All the information you provide is kept confidential unless you disclose plan or intent to harm yourself or another. Amy will openly discuss confidentiality with you at your first session, along with discussing consent forms. As a mandatory reporter, sharing of relevant information will occur if risk is identified for someone under the age of 18. There may be occasions where records may also be subpoenaed if you are engaged in Court proceedings.

Please ask if you would like a copy of Attuned Mind's privacy policy.

You don’t need a referral to access Attuned Mind services; you are more than welcome to self-refer through our website.

If you want to claim Medicare rebates, please speak to your GP to determine your eligibility for either a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, GPMHTP or Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan, EDTMP.

AMHSWs are registered under Medicare with rebates available under a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, GMPHTP: 10 sessions per 12 months with a rebate of $87.25.

Eating Disorder Treatment Plan, EDTP: 10 sessions per 12 months (further sessions provided under the review of a medical professional) with a rebate of $87.25.

Yes, you can claim through your private health insurance depending on your level of cover and your specific arrangements with your health insurer. You will need to check with your private health insurer to determine your insurance coverage and your eligibility.

Private Health Insurers include, but are not limited to: Bupa, Teacher's Health, UniHealth Insurance, Nurses and Midwives Health and Medibank Private.

Therapy is unique for each person, sometimes short interventions may be all you require to support your mental health and to develop regulation techniques and skills to support your healing without further sessions. For others, longer term therapy may be most beneficial for their healing journey. This is particularly so if engaging in trauma re-processing interventions such as EMDR or eating disorder therapeutic support.

GPMHTPs and EDTPs can significantly offset the investment of longer-term therapy engagement.

Absolutely, Attuned Mind is a LGBTQIA+ friendly practice. We provide a safe and welcoming environment for individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
